Recovery Camp
For over a decade, we have delivered life-changing, transformative, therapeutic recreation-based camps.
These evidence-based, internationally recognized, and award-winning camps are our premier program.
What happens at Recovery Camp?
Each camp is a four-night, five-day, immersive experience where health students and people with lived experience of mental illness engage together in recovery-oriented, therapeutic recreation activities that promote mental health, social connection, and physical activity.
Everyone participates together, giving students the best opportunity to learn and understand mental health and recovery from lived experience experts.
The program, designed by mental health and education experts Professor Lorna Moxham and Assoc. Prof. Christopher Patterson of the University of Wollongong, focuses on building connection and community, to provide opportunities for all attendees to learn from one another.
And don’t worry – we sleep in air-conditioned cabins, not tents!
For mental health
Recovery Camp offers a supportive, fun, and empowering experience for people living with mental health issues and mental illness.
Recovery Camp is about connection, hope, and building a community, where people are seen as people, not as a diagnosis.

For health students
As an ANMAC-recognised 80-hour clinical placement, Recovery Camp has changed mental health education in Australia.
For over a decade, we have provided better clinical placement to students of nursing, paramedicine, exercise science, psychology, nutrition and dietetics, and occupational therapy.
With support from Registered Nurse facilitators, students learn about mental health, mental illness, and recovery, directly from people with lived-experience.
